Jean Trimble is a legal assistant with Nelson, Irvings & Waeffler.  She works with clients primarily on Title XIX and long term care issues. One of her particular strengths is helping clients and families resolve care concerns in long term care facilities in a cooperative and constructive way.

Jean received an undergraduate degree in social welfare and a M.S. degree in urban affairs concentrating in social gerontology, both from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee.  For over 25 years, she has been involved in advocacy for older persons and their families.  She worked as a paralegal for Legal Action of Wisconsin specializing in public benefits and as director of social services for a home health agency.  She then worked for the State of Wisconsin’s Board on Aging and Long Term Care as a long term care ombudsman for twelve years.  As an ombudsman, she was responsible for mediating care concerns in long term care facilities.  In addition, she was instrumental in strengthening the state abuse registry, increasing nursing home staffing levels, and getting legislation passed requiring criminal background checks for nursing home personnel.

She was recognized for her work as a long term care ombudsman by the State Assembly in 1999.
